BENJAMIN WETHERBEE
About my music
I'm a fiddler, singer, songwriter, and guitar player. My music fits in somewhere between traditional Appalachian music, country, rock'n'roll, punk, and experimental/freely improvised music.

I grew up hearing many of the best old time fiddlers in the Northeast, especially from Boston, Ithaca, Western Mass, and Vermont. I also play lots of New England contra dance music, Cajun/Creole music, and Bluegrass.

I frequently play for square and contra dances, weddings, events, parties,
art spaces, cafes, bars, restaurants,
and more.

I've performed or recorded:

-
solo
-
in countless old time bands, often with my mom, Ruth Rappaport
-
for contra dances with folks such as Stuart Kenney, George Wilson, Larry Unger, and Jesse Ball
-
with various singer-songwriters, DIY artists, and punk, noise, and experimental bands
-
in country, Cajun, and Bluegrass bands

In 2014, I studied traditional Irish fiddle music with Connie O'Connell at the University College Cork in Ireland.
